The terms of use for Fairdata IDA, Qvain, Etsin and Metax Services will be updated on October 9, 2025

The Fairdata Services’ terms of use will be updated on October 9, 2025. The new terms will replace the current IDA Terms of Use and apply to all users of IDA, Qvain, Metax, and Etsin.

Key updates:

  • The retention of published data will become continuous regardless of the validity of the CSC project or Project Manager user account, unless the dataset contains personal data or access to its data is completely restricted in Etsin.
  • Data must be published within two years of uploading to IDA, or an extension must be requested. The service sends reminders to users when data has been stored in the service for over a year without being linked to a published dataset.
  • Metadata administrators in organizations (so-called Qvain main users) can edit dataset metadata.
  • Users and data controllers must ensure the service is suitable and secure for the data stored.

More information:

We have also combined the use policies for these services into one document. Read the Use Policy for IDA, Qvain, Etsin, and Metax Services. There are no significant changes in the content.
