IDA Terms of Use and Privacy Statement will be updated 1.7.2019

The IDA service Terms of Use and Privacy Statement will be updated. The updated Terms of Use and the Privacy Statement will come into effect on 1.7.2019. The Terms of Use are updated as the Fairdata services will be going in to full production, when the Qvain metadata tool is launched. IDA is part of the Fairdata services (https://www.fairdata.fi/). The updated Terms of Use do not fundamentally alter the relationship between the users and CSC. Please note that General Terms of Use for CSC’s Services for Research also apply to IDA service (https://www.csc.fi/general-terms-of-use).

The main updates are summarized below:

Terms of Use:

  • Project Manager terms of use have been elaborated.
  • The Terms of Use have been clarified regarding using command line commands to transfer data unencrypted. The data transfers over the Internet to renewed IDA are always encrypted with both the browser user interface and the command line tools.
  • The Terms of Use have been updated about metadata harvesting related the Etsin research data finder.
  • Terminology and links have been updated.

Privacy Statement:

  • The registry keeper is the Ministry of Education and Culture and the party responsible for the registry is CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd. CSC acts as a contact point in privacy related questions on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
  • CSC is responsible for the maintenance of the personal register described in the privacy statement. CSC also acts as the processor of the personal data. The purposes and lawful basis for processing personal data do not fundamentally change.
  • The Privacy Statement clarifies how the personal information in the dataset metadata is handled in the Fairdata services.
